Looks like it's game on! Schweitzer is opening on Friday with very limited terrain and the forecast is for significant snow this weekend. We'll see how it all pans out. Last Sunday, Paula and I drove up to Salmo Pass between Creston and Salmo BC. There was about 5 inches of fresh powder on top of a 2 foot base that surprisingly made for some nice turns. It has been snowing this week and I'm planning to head back up on Friday and possibly stay for Saturday as well.
I'm super excited to get back into the winter routine of skiing lots and working as little as possible. Touring and exploring...... quality and quantity!
Hope to be able to share more photos and stories soon!!

Ski Season Begins

It's been a slow start to the ski season in the Pacific Northwest. Here in Sandpoint, there is still less than a foot of snow in the mountains. For the past 2 weekends, I have been making the 6 hour drive to Roger's Pass in British Columbia where although the snowpack is still low for this time of year there's plenty to get in some great adventures. The mountains surrounding Roger's are part of the Selkirk Range and they are true big mountains with endless options for beautiful ski touring.
